The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, most recently reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015, is a federal law ensuring immediate enrollment, educational stability, and access to services for children and youth experiencing homelessness. It removes barriers to education for children lacking a "fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence," including those sharing housing due to econimic hardship, living in motels, trailers, shelters, or substandard/temporary housing.
