Rebekah Soloe, HES, 3rd grade
Experience: 2 years at BHSC
College/University: Ball State
Fun fact: I am very interested in historical artifacts, and I love to visit museums.
Mrs. Soloe says her favorite part about teaching is "getting to see my students’ confidence grow as they learn new things and realize what they can do. I love the everyday moments of laughter, curiosity, and excitement that make our classroom feel like a family and community. Those little wins throughout the day are what make this work so rewarding."
Parent Morgan Neeley nominated Mrs. Soloe and wrote, "She is an amazing teacher! My daughter was in her class the first year she was at Henryville, and we absolutely loved her! She’s amazing!"

This week, the BHSC Teacher Feature Friday spotlights Borden Elementary School
Mindy Sifflard, BES, 1st grade
Experience: 13 years at BES; 17 years overall
College/University: Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus
Fun fact: I have been to 11 different countries!
Ms. Sifflard says her favorite part about teaching is "building relationships with students that extend beyond our classroom. I love being able to have former students say hi and work in my classroom. "
Parent Alissa Akers-Lanham nominated Ms. Sifflard with these words, "My story is unique in that Mindy is a first grade teacher at Borden Elementary, and she’s a wonderful one! However, my nomination stems from my junior at Borden High School. This will be the second year that my daughter, Lilly, has had the privilege to be the cadet teacher in Mindy’s classroom. Not only has she helped shape the future of Lilly’s aspirations with her inspiring classroom presence, she has also shown Lilly the true value embodied in being a teacher. Mindy’s reach goes far beyond the classroom and she will rally for all her students -past, present, future, and even those that are her cadets! She truly goes above and beyond the call of duty, and our family is blessed by her kind, generous, and loving soul."
Ms. Sifflard, thank you for choosing to build connections that go beyond your classroom at BHSC!

BHS students don't just study history—they stepped into it on Tuesday!
In Mrs. Craft’s English class, students participated in a powerful WWII-era simulation examining one of the most consequential decisions in modern history: whether President Truman should authorize the use of the atomic bomb. Working in teams, students researched real historical options considered in 1945, developed evidence-based arguments, and presented their positions as if they were members of Truman’s cabinet.
Students didn’t simply present—they questioned one another, pressed for clarification, and responded thoughtfully, just as advisors would have done in the room where history was shaped. Many spoke clearly and with conviction, demonstrating deep understanding of their research and the gravity of the decision before them.
This is what meaningful, authentic learning looks like: critical thinking, civil discourse, collaboration, and the courage to defend ideas with evidence. Well done to our students—and to Mrs. Craft for facilitating the experience.

"Molly does so much for our students, staff, and families. She’s known for building strong relationships and making kids feel safe and supported. She’s always right where she’s needed; meeting with students, popping into classrooms, and working with teachers to help them solve problems.
In addition to leading our ROX program, Molly supports initiatives ranging from bullying prevention and student empowerment to crisis response, family support, and academic/behavior interventions. She spends countless hours in classrooms teaching lessons and helping students build skills that carry over into every part of school life.
Molly is a team player and a vital member of our student and family support team. "
We appreciate you, Mrs. Tonnies!

"This week, we’re giving a huge THANK YOU to Ms. Pendleton, our BES school social worker! From her morning arrival greeting to hosting lunch bunch groups, her compassion, dedication, and tireless support help our students feel safe, heard, and ready to learn every single day.
We are so grateful for the heart you bring to Borden Elementary and the difference you make in the lives of our students and families! Thank you, Ms. Pendleton—we appreciate you today and always!"

🎨 Thinking BIG in Intro to 3D Art! 🎨
Mrs. Morgan Cope’s Intro to 3D Art students are turning everyday objects into larger-than-life statements, inspired by Swedish-born Pop artist Claes Oldenburg—best known for monumentalizing ordinary items, including his iconic 45-foot Clothespin sculpture near Philadelphia City Hall.
Using paper mâché, students embraced Oldenburg’s bold style by scaling up the familiar in imaginative ways. From a towering queen chess piece to an oversized WD-40 can and a Stanley cup, these sculptures prove that creativity grows when students are encouraged to see the ordinary in new ways.
We’re loving the craftsmanship, collaboration, and creative confidence on display!

"Henryville Jr./Sr. High School serves grades 7–12 and has over 500 students in the building. We are supported by two outstanding school counselors, Cameron Clark and Carrissa Burns, who guide students in their academic planning and decision-making.
Cameron and Carrissa are responsible for a wide range of tasks. They ensure each student is planning courses aligned with future goals and aspirations. Henryville is unique in that, despite being a small school, we are able to offer a wide variety of opportunities. We currently have five career pathways available to students: engineering, medical, education, business, and hospitality. In addition, we recently became an Early College–endorsed high school, allowing us to offer many college credit opportunities to our students. Over the past three years, more than 30% of our seniors have earned the Indiana College Core, graduating with 30 transferable college credit hours.
We also send students to Prosser Career Education Center, which partners with us to help students explore additional career opportunities. Cameron and Carrissa coordinate all of this, ensuring students stay on track with high school graduation requirements, dual credits, pathway requirements, and Prosser enrollment.
Beyond academics, they play a vital role in supporting the mental health of our students, helping them navigate the many challenges teenagers face during these formative years. Cameron and Carrissa are also incredibly flexible. With constantly changing requirements and regulations, they are always willing to problem-solve and find ways to make things work for our school and our students.
They truly put students first, and we deeply appreciate all that they do."
Miss Burns and Mr. Clark, thank you for your work with BHSC students!

As part of National School Counseling Week, we’re celebrating the dedicated counselors who support our students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Borden High School Principal Mr. Charles Gardner praised Mrs. Cavins and her work at BHS:
"A huge shoutout to Borden Jr./Sr. High School counselor, Amanda Cavins, for her incredible dedication to our students. Mrs. Cavins plays a vital role in helping BHS students achieve school success by guiding them through their academic planning and decision-making. Whether she’s helping students navigate diploma types and requirements, discovering scholarship opportunities, or coordinating college credit, she ensures every student is on a path toward their future goals.
Mrs. Cavins maintains great relationships with many outside partners including Ivy Tech, IUS, and the Prosser Career Center. These partnerships provide our students with direct access to specialized vocational training and dual-credit courses.
Outside of school hours, Mrs. Cavins is a constant at athletic events, supporting students and helping every event run smoothly.
We are so grateful for all she does to put students first. Thank you, Mrs. Cavins, for everything you do to prepare our students for life after high school!"
Mrs. Cavins, thank you for choosing to support BHSC students!

This week, the BHSC Teacher Feature Friday spotlights Henryville High School
Seth Caudill, HHS, Engineering/Design Teacher
Experience: 9 years at HHS, 14 years total
College/University: IUS
Fun fact: Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Caudill was a licensed electrician.
Mr. Caudill says, "My favorite part of teaching at Henryville High School is helping students make real-world connections between content areas. In the engineering classroom, we are able to demonstrate how content learned in other classes can be applied to real-world situations through projects and activities. Professionally, I am most proud of establishing and growing the engineering and robotics programs. Thanks to the support of the school board, administrators, and local businesses, we have been able to offer opportunities to our students that have never existed at Henryville High School before. "
The Tieken Family nominated Mr. Caudill, writing, "Besides being a great teacher, Mr. Caudill also puts in additional time as a tennis coach and a Robotics coach. His commitment to students and players is far more than just being there. He is passionate in all that he does and goes above and beyond. Last year’s MS Robotics success, and this year’s MS boys tennis success are just a few examples of his commitment!"
Mr. Caudill, thank you for working to create opportunities for BHSC students!
