BHSC Teacher Feature Friday
🔎 Each week, a central office committee reviews nominations and selects one educator from a rotating school (BES, HES, BHS, HHS). Winners receive a $50 Amazon gift card courtesy of the Kolton Kaiser Foundation. The nominator’s identity is revealed to the honoree on announcement day to keep the fun and suspense.
This week, the BHSC Teacher Feature Friday spotlights Henryville High School.
Zerach Coats, HHS, English teacher
Experience: 2 years
College/University: IUS
Fun Facts: Mr. Coats loves snow skiing and preaching.
Mr. Coats says, "I think that my favorite part of being a teacher is the relationships I get to build with the staff and students around me. I love getting to know the students and I love having the opportunity to make an impact on their lives. It always makes me happy when a student comes up to talk to me about their sports, hobbies, families, or whatever they want. It gives me an opportunity to grow my relationships with them and it proves to me that they know I care about them, not only as students but as actual individual people as well. "
Mr. Coats was nominated by a middle school student's family, who wrote, "My daughter speaks so highly of him. He really has a way with middle school teens, which in itself is a blessing! "
Congratulations, Mr. Coats! Thank you for choosing to make a difference at BHSC.
