Earlier this month, the Henryville High School student art show put some incredible creativity on full display. Visitors got to explore a massive variety of student masterpieces from Mrs. Sweeney’s art classes, including Intro to 2-D & 3-D Art, Fiber Arts, Ceramics, Printmaking, & Sculpture, in addition to some special features from 7th grade art classes.
Our elementary students were invited to visit the show, giving many of them their very first experience in a real gallery-type setting!

Kristin Kleinert, HES, 5th grade teacher
Experience: 7 years HES teaching (+ 4 years at HES as a paraprofessional)
College/University: Ball State University and American College of Education
Fun Facts: Mrs. Kleinert's grandfather, parents, husband, children, AND Mrs. Kleinert all attended Henryville schools, and her first grandchild will begin at HES this fall in the daycare.
"I cherish building connections with students, their siblings & their families more than any portion of my job. Often these connections lead to meaningful learning, but most importantly, they support our students as they grow into contributing members of our school community. My heart is fullest when current & former students come to share their successes--and even their struggles--with me! " says Mrs. Kleinert.
Mrs. Kleinert was nominated by a family who asked to remain anonymous but indicated that Mrs. Kleinert's impact on their grandchildren was exceptional.

Henryville High School's own band and music teacher Natalie Humble is a quarterfinalist for the 2027 Music Educator Award presented by the Recording Academy and Grammy Museum!
The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators who have made a signficiant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools. Semifinalists will be announced in September.

Lora Anderson, BES, music teacher
Experience: 5 years at BES, 9 years overall
College/University: University of Louisville
Fun Facts: Mrs. Anderson has been skydiving! She says, "Yes, I willingly jumped out of a plane."
"I have been blessed to teach all levels and grades. Music has always been my outlet, and I'm happy I get to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for it with my students. My favorite part about teaching my subject is when they FINALLY get it. When it FINALLY starts to make sense, then their love for music grows exponentially!" writes Mrs. Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson was nominated by the family of JP Bennett, who wrote, "Mrs. Anderson spends so much of her own time and money to prepare creative music lessons with a limited budget and teaching the students that they can make and appreciate music with anything around them. She has helped my son to find that he loves music and he has even enjoyed joining the choir. He is not so musically inclined but she worked with him to find where he can not only participate but even excel!"

We are officially in the swing of registration for the 2026-27 school year! Currently, 38% of our families have successfully submitted their forms. Thank you to the 605 students who are already set for the fall!
If you fall into that "Not Started" or "In Progress" category, take a few minutes this week to log in and knock it out. Getting this done now helps our schools plan for staffing, rosters, schedules, and transportation so we can hit the ground running.

Mr. Coats says, "I think that my favorite part of being a teacher is the relationships I get to build with the staff and students around me. I love getting to know the students and I love having the opportunity to make an impact on their lives. It always makes me happy when a student comes up to talk to me about their sports, hobbies, families, or whatever they want. It gives me an opportunity to grow my relationships with them and it proves to me that they know I care about them, not only as students but as actual individual people as well. "

Fun Facts: Mrs. Sprinkle played rugby in college, was a former acting major, and her #1 dream is to host SNL.

For me, seeing their eyes light up when they finally 'get' something is what it's all about. Those are the moments I adore."

Mr. Green was nominated by Kelsey Prall, who wrote, "Mr. Green is an amazing teacher! He brings so much energy and passion to his students and makes them all feel valued and loved. My son absolutely adores him and can’t stand missing school because he loves being in Mr. Green’s class. I believe there are people out there who are just born to be teachers and, to me, Mr. Green is absolutely that person. Our family loves him!."

Mrs. Dale's favorite part of teaching is easy to explain. "I love watching students have that 'AHA' moment. Seeing the light come on that they finally understand the concept just makes my day! I love when former students come back to visit or help out in class. "
Mrs. Dale was nominated by the family of Sawyer Morris, who wrote, "She has been so wonderful for Sawyer and his transition to kindergarten. She has created a safe space for him and been patient when he has had a hard time getting the day going at school. She has also been so kind when I have messaged her asking how he is doing during the day and extremely helpful when there has been an issue."

How to Register:
Make sure you have your proof of address (utility bill or driver’s license) handy before you begin!
Returning Families: Log in via your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. You can be finished in 15-20 minutes!
New Families: Head to www.bhsc.school and click on 26-27 Registration. Expect the process to take about 20–30 minutes.
All families, even those who attended during the 25-26 school year, are required to update their registration information annually.

Matthew Payne, HHS, FACS Teacher; Strength & Conditioning Coach
Experience: 2 years with BHSC, 6 years overall teaching
College/University: Bachelor's from WKU, Master's from University of St. Francis, & currently pursuing an additional Master's from USI
Fun facts: Mr. Payne says, "This is a second career for me. Football was my favorite sport I played in my career but most don’t know that I played college rugby at WKU."
Mr. Payne said his favorite part of teaching is that he loves what he does. "This isn’t a job because a job is something you go to and collect a pay check. I love what I do and feel honored to help educate and pass on my life experiences with the kids here. My passion is fitness so I’d say teaching my weight classes and after school training is my favorite part along with being the head middle school football coach."
Mr. Payne was nominated by the family of Jaxon and Ben Kirk, who wrote, "Mr. Payne goes above and beyond when it comes to the health and participation of the students in the gym. He takes his own time to help them lift weight and work out during summer hours! He also stays after school to let the kids work out and lift weights. He coaches football and is an excellent example of sportsmanship and discipline. He works the kids hard but is right there with them, working along side them, pushing them to be their best selves. He is encouraging when they need encouragement and disciplines when they need correction in a positive, supportive way. We absolutely love Mr. Payne and all the dedication and time he puts forth with these kids on a daily basis. He deserves this recognition in our opinion."

Matt Vick, BHS, Math Teacher
Experience: 15 years with BHSC, 12 of those at BHS
College/University: Indiana University Southeast
Fun facts: Coach Vick says, "A lot of my students don't know that I taught at Henryville at the beginning of my career. Also, I help on our family farm, and we are known for raising cantaloupes (about 40,000 plants each year)."
Mr. Vick says, "My favorite part of teaching is interacting with the students. Whether it's talking sports, their current job, or even if it's about math, it's fun talking with my students. I know math can be boring for a lot of kids, so I try to make it as fun and down to earth as possible."
Mr. Vick was nominated by a colleague whose own 3 children have all had Mr. Vick as a high school teacher. The Saylor Family wrote, "Mr. Vick has taught all three of our children over the course of several years at Borden. He has always been someone our children feel comfortable confiding in and leaning on. Mr. Vick has always been approachable. My children have asked Mr. Vick math questions when they are no longer in his class. One of my daughters was his cadet teacher and Mr. Vick helped grow her love and teaching and math during her time with him. We cannot express how thankful we are for a teacher like Matt Vick at Borden High School. "
Mr. Vick is sometimes better known as Coach Vick - in addition to teaching math at Borden High School, he serves as head coach for the BHS girls' basketball team and led them to back-to-back 1A State Championship wins. Mr. Vick also often drives a bus for BHSC to help out.

Please don't hesitate to contact school personnel with concerns for your child or any other student. Adrienne Dickey, HES, 6th Grade Teacher

College/University: Indiana University Southeast and University of the Cumberlands
Fun facts: "When I'm not at school or driving my kids to their sporting events, I enjoy hiking, fishing, and thrifting."
Mrs. Dickey enjoys "Teaching kids that math is something not to be afraid of, working with an amazing team, and cheering on our students at their events."
Mrs. Dickey was nominated for this recognition by the family of Brooklynn Newby, who wrote, "She is one of the best teachers we have had at Henryville. I know 6th grade can be hard on kids because it is a hard age with everything going on, but she makes every kid feel amazing. She gives them responsibilities in the classroom that teach them so much more than just a textbook will. She loves all of her students and will go the extra mile to make sure they are all taken care of. We are so blessed to have her at Henryville."
When notified of Mrs. Dickey's nomination, Principal Sara Spicer also noted how impressed she is with the relationships between Mrs. Dickey and her students and the high level of learning that occurs in her classroom.
